2024-25 - Ash Flooring Plank Project

This series is constructed from standard-width ash flooring planks, using 3, 5, and 7 inch boards as a fixed structural unit. Each piece is assembled, stained, and partially painted with oil paint. Straight lines and fragments of elliptical lines suggest architectural sections and partial enclosures, organizing space through pauses, interruptions, and alignment. The work operates between painting and object, where built fragments, abstract forms, and negative space negotiate balance, restraint, and material presence.
